Currently Artistic Director of Hsu Chen Wei Dance Company. Hsu’s training background includes Contemporary Dance, Improvisation, and has received a Masters Degree in Dance Choreography at Taipei National University of the Arts.
Currently dancer at "Ku and Dancers" and founder of Hsu Chen Wei Dance Company.
Hsu also teaches “Contact Improvisation” at CAREO of TNUA in Huashan, and “Contemporary Dance” at University of Taipei Department of Dance. Hsu has awarded “LO Man-Fei Fund” in 2015 and 2017, “Cloud Gate-Wanderer Plan” in 2018.
Hsu has focused on Taiwan contemporary dance methods throughout his career, which then evolves into his core principal when choreographing dance pieces. Many of Hsu’s dance works have won the Taiwan’s National Creative Dance award, and has toured in many countries; including the US, Canada, Australia, France, Malaysia, China, HK, Indonesia, and Macao. Except exchanging and cooperating with international countries,
Hsu also actively promotes dancing by holding many dancing workshop; including “My Dancebody Program 1-7”, “Local Dancbody Program”, “Contact improvisation workshop” in 2015-2018.
In 2018, Hsu’s piece “Being not being” was invited to perform in “Chiayi New Style Choreography”, and in Macau “Solos/Duets Showcase”. In 2017, another Hsu’s piece “ Purgatory” was also elected to participate in “Kaohsiung Spring Arts Festival”.
In 2015, Hsu’s piece “The Sacrifice of Roaring” was elected to participate in Sun-Shier Dance theatre’s salon and won S-An Cultural Foundation Arts award. In the same year, “The Sacrifice of Roaring” was invited to participate in the Beijing Dance week, and then attended the WDA - America in Hawaii. This piece was also elected to participate in “ 2016 Taiwan Season - Edinburgh Fringe Festival”, The Netherlands “2016 NEU NOW Arts Festival”, and Hong Kong “2017 City Contemporary Dance Festival – HOT POT East Asia Dance Platform”. In 2018, “The Sacrifice of Roaring—Essential Version” was invited to perform in Taipei “ CoDance Festivel”, and Macau “CDE SPRINGBOARD”.
Hsu was elected to participate in “Youngs Stars, New Vision” in 2015, and his piece “Tiny Kingdom” debuted at the Taipei SongYan LAB, also in the same year Hsu’s third solo piece “Blue Yellow” debuted at the Taipei Wen Shen Theater, which was also invited to perform in Macau.
